PROFIBUS is an established fieldbus used extensively in a wide variety of industrial automation applications. Despite this, many PROFIBUS networks operate with underlying issues as a result of decisions made during the design phase of the installation. These issues often remain undetected until changes are made to the network, often many years later, and then start to cause problems that can be difficult to diagnose.
Control Specialists Ltd are a PROFIBUS and PROFINET International Competency Centre (PICC) which gives us a manufacturer-independent aspect and expertise in these widely-used technologies. Peter Thomas of Control Specialists Ltd is the Technical Officer of PI UK.
Using Certified PROFIBUS Designers, Certified PROFIBUS Engineers and the monitoring and diagnostic tools of our partner, Procentec BV, Control Specialists Ltd can provide assistance with design and commissioning of new installations or the support of existing ones. Our design team will ensure that the fundamentals such as topology, measuring points, cable lengths, EMC requirements etc. are established at the design phase and then formally validated to establish conformance to the design as well as ensuring that the network is operating within defined limits. We have several years of experience in supporting and fault-finding on PROFIBUS networks where our wider experience in automation control systems often helps us resolves issues where others have failed.
